REASONS WHY WE SHOULD LEGALIZE MARIJUANA

# Medicinal use:Marijuana can be used as medicine because it helps to stimulate apetite and relieve nausea in cancer and AIDS patients.

# Hemp: The hemp plant is a valuable natural resource. Legalizing marijuana would eliminate the confusion surrounding hemp and allow us to take advantage of hemp's agricultural and industrial uses.

# Religious Use:Some religions instruct their followers to use marijuana. Just like Christianity and Judaism instruct their followers to drink wine on certain occaisions, some Hindus, Buddhists, Rastafarians, and members of other religions use marijuana as part of their spiritual and religious ceremonies. These people deserve the freedom to practice their religion as they see fit. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says that the government cannot 'prohibit the free exercise' of religion, and so marijuana should be legal.


BOTTOM LINE: IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE TO LEGALIZE MARIJUANA THAN IT IS TO MAKE IT ILLEGAL. WE LEARNED THAT ONE A LONG TIME AGO WITH ALCOHOL. I DONT KNOW I CAN GO EITHER WAY ON THIS ONE. IF IT IS ILLEGAL I PAY FOR IT BY PLACING THOSE PEOPLE IN JAIL AND FEEDING THEM. AT LEAST IF THEY LEGALIZE IT, I GET A CHOICE OF PAYING FOR WEED OR NOT!!??

yeah, I got a little off track on the whole valentine's day theme. ;) I'm going to have to write a bunch of entries in a row so I can knock that one off the page.

I don't know about religious use... marjiuana is a new-world plant, so Hinduism and Buddhism existed for millennia without ever using it. And real rastafarians aren't supposed to use it recreationally, and most don't use it at all. Plus rastafarians make up less than .001% of our population anyway.

But hey, if you're dying from AIDS, then I say go for it. Even if it wasn't legal, what are they going to do, throw you from your hospital bed into prison?

lol! i live with my dad now.. and my mom lives in Alabama, while i'm all the way in kansas. it's kind of hard to see my mom cause it's so far away.. so whenever my ol' papa stresses me out it's not like i can drive across town and hang out with her.

Most religions that use wine don't actually use wine. They use grape juice. It's all symbolic. I haven't been to a service where wine was mandatory. If it were even offered..there was grape juice available. I mean I don't care much one way or the other because I don't smoke. But I've seen people drop out of school due to it (this they've told me since then and they regret it) and while this isn't the case with everyone..I've seen enough people screw up during the time period that they were smoking. Sure I'd be for medicinal purposes but then everyone cries that they have a medicinal reason for it which negates the validity. Sure I don't know everyone that smokes pot but the ones that I do know use it because they can't cope with reality in one way or another. Possibly a tool of the weak-willed. Maybe. I don't know. I just like to face everything with as clear a mind as is possible. Sorry. Just making my thoughts equally as known haha
