I went to the orthepedic surgeon today. He took a look at my x-rays and it was not good news. I have a large pertruding disc in my lower back that is pressing on the nerves. Normal to average disc problems are a slipped disc, herinated disc or ruptured disc. My problem is a large disc that is protruding into the nerve.
So what is the end result? SURGERY.
I called a family meeting tonight. Being a single mother I need to talk to my children about taking care of the home while I am in the hospital. My oldest son needs to be in charge and everyone has to do their part. I am really sad right now because I think I am more affraid than anything. I have NEVER had surgery before so I dont know what to expect. I am young and I am sure that I will make it through the procedure. I just worry about my children and my home while I am gone.

Ewww surgery.
My aunt had to have two of her disks fused... she now has a permahandicap tag.
I'm sure everything will be fine during/afterwards.

eek, that sounds painful. I know I need surgery, but its not a big enough problem to need immediately. I wish you luck with the surgery.

wow...that's horrible! I hope your surgery goes well when you have it and everything works out while you're out of action.

Hope everything will be alright. I'm sure your children will know what to do when you're not at home and keep you from worrying.

A little bit of optimism when you're under the knife goes a long way. Now, I won't tell you not to worry about your kids because that's just like saying "DON'T BREATHE!"--very counterintuitive--but try not to let it get the best of you. I'm sure they'll pull through just for you.
I'll be keeping you in my thoughts!

hey there! I'm so sorry to hear about your back! At least now they know what it is and they have a plan for fixing it, unlike poor lazypuppy! It always makes me feel a little better when they know what's wrong and they have a plan of action. Still scary though!! But don't worry, we're your little support group, and if I still lived in California, I would give your kids my number so they could call me if they needed to, but since I don't, I'll just say that I'll have you in my prayers and you'll be just fine!! :D

GOOD LUCK UNDER THE KNIFE, KKAMA-SAMA! You'll be in my prayers, and I hope everything goes well. If you want, I can perform the surgery for you. I just found a real cool butcher knife and I'm sure that with alittle practice, I can be as good as Dr. Burke!
